CSSA- Center for Software Security and Assurance

(2015.11.19. Opening ceremony of CSSA)

In response to the increasing global usage of IoT devices and the associated risk of software vulnerabilities posing significant threats, Korea University, with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT, established the International Joint Research Center for IoT Software Security in June 2015. It is the predecessor model of the CSSA(Center for Software Security and Assurance) Center, and the official inauguration took place in November 2015.

The International Joint Research Center has conducted collaborative research with experts from Korea University’s six labs and prestigious institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University in the USA, the University of Oxford in the UK, and ETH Zürich in Switzerland. In April 2016, we launched the 'IoTcube', an automated vulnerability analysis platform. The first IoTcube Conference followed in February 2017, and in November 2017, we became founding members of the I3 Consortium in Los Angeles, USA, alongside the University of Southern California (USC) and the City of Los Angeles.

In November 2018, the International Joint Research Center for IoT Software Security expanded and was rebranded as the Center for Software Security & Assurance (CSSA). Adapting to the evolving trends in software supply chain security, we have undertaken national R&D projects focusing on emerging issues such as blockchain, SBOM, and VEX. Since 2019, we have also been running the Graduate School major in computer security at Korea University to nurture talent in the security field.

(2019.08.30. Hosting the 3rd IoTcube Conference)

Additionally, the CSSA hosts the annual IoTcube Conference and offers various external collaboration programs, including seminars, memberships, and intelligence consortiums. In 2018, Labrador Labs, a subsidiary of Korea University's Technology Holdings, was established to provide enterprise solutions for the IoTcube open platform.
